The 38th eSatya meetup was successfully conducted on 20th November, 2023, via Zoom on the topic “Blockchain in Banking Industry ”. The main mission of organizing a Meetup on the theme Blockchain enhances banking by providing a secure, decentralized ledger that reduces fraud and unauthorized access. Its real-time transparency streamlines transactions, cutting costs and increasing efficiency in the banking sector.
Overall, Blockchain in banking boosts security through a decentralized, tamper-resistant ledger, minimizing fraud and unauthorized access. It fosters real-time transparency, reducing errors and disputes among transaction parties. Moreover, it streamlines cross-border transactions, cutting costs by eliminating intermediaries, resulting in increased efficiency, security, and trust.
Our first speaker for the meetup was Micheal Siddhi, who is a Banker with experience of more than 20 years now. He is a head of Transaction Banking department in Standard Chartered Bank Nepal\ and prior to this role he was working with a Qatar based Bahraini Bank in Doha. Currently, he is responsible for management, development, governance & sales of Cash management & Trade finance products which includes digital assets too. As a part of this role, he is leading the Bank’s blockchain & digital currency strategy
Our Second Speaker for the meetup was Santosh Shrestha, who is an experienced financial compliance professional with 8+ years in AML/KYC program development for major banks. Co-founder of a blockchain-based company, Rumsan. Proven speaker in the blockchain community with a passion for innovation and a unique blend of technical expertise and leadership skills.
The meetup was moderated by Ms. Ashmita Manandhar, which was supported by the Ethereum Support Program, Prime IT Club and Digital Notice Media Lab.It was hosted on the online platform, Zoom. There were altogether 34 attendees from zoom and 11 from Fb live who attended the meetup.
The session was followed by an interesting question and answer session at the end where the participant’s queries were answered by the speakers. The entire session was one and half hour long and was attended by students, clubs and other professionals.
