Blockhain in Agriculture with YES Agriculture

 

On February 29, 2024, eSatya and Agriclear jointly organized a virtual Blockchain session titled "Blockchain in Agriculture." The session, led by Ms. Amina Manandhar and Ms. Manika Maharjan, an Agricultural researcher at Agriclear, was attended by 37 participants from Youth Endeavour for Sustainable Agriculture - YES Agriculture.

Ms. Amina introduced eSatya and its services in the Blockchain field, including awareness and training sessions. She delved into Blockchain technology, explaining its emergence and evolution alongside the web. She highlighted various benefits of Blockchain, such as improved transparency, enhanced supply chain management, and reduced instances of fraud and errors. Moreover, she clarified common myths and misconceptions surrounding Blockchain, particularly in the context of Nepal.

Following Ms. Amina's presentation, Ms. Manika provided an overview of Agriclear and discussed digital technologies in agriculture. She emphasized the significance of technology in agriculture and shared real-life stories of farmers encountering challenges, such as inefficient supply chain management and lack of transparency. She then explored how Blockchain technology could address these challenges by providing enhanced transparency and traceability in the supply chain, reducing the risk of fraud and errors. She also discussed the potential of Blockchain to streamline processes and improve data management in the agro-sector. Finally, she presented feedback from Agriclear clients who have benefited from the implementation of Blockchain solutions.

The session wrapped up with a question and answer session, allowing students to address any queries and clarify uncertainties regarding Blockchain technology and its relevance in the agriculture sector. Overall, the session effectively provided students with an introductory comprehension of Blockchain technology and its potential applications in agriculture.
